A storm-tossed swirl of a play, Acts of God tracks twelve high-school students through the year following a devastating tornado strike. As the students grieve, assist in the recovery efforts, and tackle the basics of getting on with life, they must also cope with the storm's emotional detritus.
Tartuffe by Molière is a play about a man who falls victim to misdirected adoration. There is a trouble-knocking at the house of Orgon. His mother believes that the family is becoming depraved. Orgon had recently taken in Tartuffe, who is a beggar but also a holy man. The Orgon family sees Tartuffe as hypocritical and as a con artist but when Orgon gets back from the country, he is obsessed with Tartuffe and would rather hear more about him than pay attention to his ailing wife. The brother in law tries to talk to him about Tartuffe but it doesn't go well since Orgon keeps praising Tartuffe.
In 1960s Baltimore, dance-loving teen Tracy Turnblad auditions for a spot on "The Corny Collins Show" and wins. She becomes an overnight celebrity, a trendsetter in dance, fun, and fashion. Her new status might be able to bring a new era of inclusivity into the Corny Collins show.
