Identity hasn't changed much this year 

At the beginning of the year, we created a compass to showcase our values.

•  I chose curiosity, empathy, understanding, kindness, and knowledge. These are all important parts of my identity. 

This year I started to recognize that doing well in school is one of the things that drives me. At the beginning of the school year, we had less homework and I didn't need to have good time management. At the end of the year, we have a lot more homework, so in order to have some free time during the day I have had to learn really good time mamagement.

This year, my significant adult is my grandma, Cookie. She inspires me because she never gives up, even when she wants to, and she is kind to everybody, even if she is having a hard day, or they are not kind to her. 

• She demonstrates effort everyday because everything is harder with Parkinson’s but she does her exercises and doesn’t let her disease stop her from doing things she loves, like hiking and sewing.

•  She demonstrates refinement by always making things (quilt, socks, hats), and sometimes she’ll find a mistake and have to tear out all her hard work to refine what she’s done and make it the best possible. 

• Even though she constantly demonstrates respect to everyone around her, traveling to Baja with her on spring break and showed me just how much she respected the people who were helping us and teaching us. 

• Finally, she demonstrates integrity because no matter how hard things are, Cookie stays true to her values (kindness and family).
