For this project we learned how to look for shapes in faces and other items that we are going to draw, then we learned how to shade with pencils. We put our learning into art by creating a self portrait. 

For this project we learned how to go out of our comfort zone and use oil pastels to color something differently than its original color, for example I made a pink. orange, red, and yellow dolphin. I originally created a dolphin for this assignment, but it got lost so I finished this penguin I was working on. I used pencil at first, but when my dolphin got lost I had to go over it with oil pastels. I love penguins and I thought it would be cool to bring this one to life. I want people to feel child-like and happy when they see this art piece.

For this project we learned how to put different colors in items that aren't usually that color. We also learned about using color theory, like if you use cool colors like blue and green, it will naturally look like that thing is in shadow. If you use reds and oranges, on the other hand, it will look like that item is in the sun. We made paintings of different landscapes and tried our best to use impressionism. I created a painting of dark purple mountains in dusk, reflecting on a lake. My reflection on this artwork was: My favorite part of this artwork is the mountains and sky above the lake. I was inspired to do this artwork because I wanted to do something that reminded me of Durango. I was trying to create the feeling of remembering or being melancholy with the darker colors and the lake. I used acrylic paint for this project.
