I interned at Spine Colorado, which is an organization that specializes in spinal anatomy, surgery, and clinical care. I chose this internship location because I am interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, and wanted to see how everything works on a day to day basis, and what the workload of being a surgeon looks like. I was also interested in spinal care and surgery after my mom had her spinal surgery. Some major takeaways I learned from this experience was that being a spinal surgeon requires much more than just surgery and has a lot of different aspects that go into being able to perform at such a busy job. This internship impacted my future goals and aspirations by helping me determine if this is a career I want to pursue, or if I want to maybe put my time and focus into another interest of mine. I made an impact on my community with this internship because I put in effort to learn new things and potentially benefit a new community by continuing to go down the path of spinal surgery. I got a meets on both assignments,(The presentation and the journal) because I met the expectations and put in a lot of effort.
