At the start of 7th grade, I thought identity was who you are, as in your name, age, city, birthday, etc., not who you are as a person. It can mean a number of things, like your personality, your morals, your mindset, or most importantly, how you demonstrate the habits of heart and mind. Everyone has a different definition of identity, but to me, identity is defined by your actions, your values, and the things you enjoy. Your actions can represent your identity depending on the things in which you show your actions. For example, someone could see a person being picked on or being hurt. And they could walk away, and not have a second thought about it, whereas someone whose identity is based off of their brave and selfless actions could stand up for that person, even if they didn’t know them. It’s the same ordeal with your values. Everyone has different values, and because they are different, so are identities. Lastly, Things you enjoy are a BIG part of your identity. For me, I enjoy baking, doing art, playing piano, doing gymnastics, and most importantly, playing soccer.
