Journal Prompt 

This was a journal prompt about  someone who was really good at something they hated. The habit of heart and mind I used for this was refinement because I went back over my work to check over my spelling and grammar. 

Infographic about Challagi

This was an infographic about the Indian school the character in our book is going to. The habit of heart and mind I used in the infographic was effort because I tried my best and customized it to my liking.

Letter to Cal

This was a letter to Cal which is the main character from the book we are reading. The habit of heart and mind I used was respect because I read through the text thoughtfully. 

For this project I compared and contrasted a Spanish myth that they mentioned in the story to Hispanic Folklore with to other partners. In this project I used refinement. For example I wasn't going to be there for the second day of working on the project so instead of just leaving the work I didn't finish I went back over it and added the rest of my research and recorded myself. Another example is once I was finished with the compare and contrast part I got together with my peers to add more details and information to the slides.

To prepare for my debate I researched my topic which was why we should keep our normal start time. I also added some information the other group might have so I would know what to say if they brought up any of the points I thought of. I won my debate because of my confidence while presenting, I was very clear, and my points were short but had good information so none of the observers got lost. I used integrity during this project. For example when I was researching and finding good points the other group made I didn't try to look at their research. Another example is during the debate while the other group was stating their points I didn't interrupt if they said something not true or inaccurate until my rebuttal. 

The most challenging part of writing my essay was the conclusion. The conclusion was the hardest for me because it was really hard to restate all my main points without making it choppy. It was also hard because I wasn't really sure how to call my readers to action , and giving them something they could do that would help my claim and main points. I'd say i'm a stronger writer of body paragraphs. This is because I had short strong evidence so readers would get the point and would get lost in the text. I also think I'm good at writing the analysis because I could explain all the ways the evidence supported my main point and my claim. If I were to give a future 6th grader advice on how to be successful I would tell them to make sure they had really strong evidence that not only supports their claim but the main point that the evidence is for. I would also tell them to make sure their information and points weren't repetitive to help them make a more strong argument.
