Mock trial overall learning target: I can apply my knowledge of westward expansion, geography and government by constructing a well-organized mock trial for or against famous mountain man Kit Carson using logical reasoning relevant and credible evidence and acknowledgment of opposing claims.
Overall This exhibition was one of the best ones I've had at mountain. I really liked this exhibition because this was such a learning experience I learned a lot more about being a attorney and so much more about the court and so much more. This really opened a opportunity to see if this is a option if that I would like to do in the future. There were not many challenges through this project our whole group was very good at communication and talking. During this project I learned about myself that I can write a closing statement that have good emotion and also good evidence. I would grade my self a meets+ because I think that I did very well overall and tried my very best on everything toward winning, and in the end we did win. A goal that I want to have during the rest of the school year is to keep trying my best and keep learning even though we are almost at the end.
This is a document that has all of your scripts and cross including our detect examination. We worked very hard on this and everyone added so much on here. On this paper me and my group all got exceeds because we worked and put so much effort into this paper I think the best part is how we added the objections for everyone to know. We used mainly effort and refinement on this paper because working is the time we had and how big group it we hard but we did it.
LT: You will write a 5-paragraph argumentative (500+ words) research paper arguing your opinion on a (relatively) controversial topic of your choice. I choose to do Why girls hockey should have body checking. This is a on going debate with the USA Hockey association. I also chose to do this because this is one of the other ways that I can connect hockey with school and do a project that I would like to learn about.
long term learning target: I can demonstrate my knowledge of native american history, government and civics though a TED talk-style presentation that analyzes the major political and social changes that affected the definition of citizenship and the rights of citizens, and explain how those changes continue to impact marginalized groups today.
We have been reading Just Mercy, which is a book that is all about people on death row and a lawyer named Bryan Stevenson. He goes around freeing people who are innocent and giving them justice, not only this, but he also helps kids and women imprisoned in jail to go to other jails like kid and woman ones.
I want to do a TED Talk on the incarceration of African Americans and Latinos. This interests me because, looking at the charts and seeing the differences in discrimination that we still have in the US today. This is what I would like to study because we can all relate to it on different levels.
For this text, I scoured mid-8th grade. I got mid-8th grade for three, and the other two I got surpassed grade level. I am very proud of myself because this test has shown a lot of growth throughout the last year and over the summer. Next I-Ready test, I hope it gets even better. It will get better because I'm trying to read more books to help.
