MOSMAN PREP P&F - Father-son Camps

Thank you dads for considering volunteering to organise your son's year group Father and Son Camp.

This camp is a highly anticipated and treasured tradition at Mosman Prep, offering an incredible opportunity for fathers and sons to spend quality one-on-one time together.

Please find information below to support you in organising this special event - including overarching objectives & responsibilities, suggested venues and key steps to lock in the venue, date and seek payment from families.

Note - your Father and Son Camp date must be locked in by Term 1 (Week 5).

Camp Objectives and Guidelines

Objective

Deepen father–son relationships by fostering connection and communication essential to boys’ wellbeing in the pre-teen and teenage years.

Guidelines

Alcohol-Free Environment: Overnight camps are strictly alcohol free.
Supervision: All dads are responsible for their son’s safety and must supervise them for the entirety of the camp. A supervision roster may be helpful to ensure boys are supervised at all times and in all areas.
Conduct: While this is not a official Prep event, please remember that the behaviour of all attendees reflects on Prep and carries implications for the school’s reputation.

Planning

Choose a venue - see suggestions below.
Choose a date - note the following:
- Liaise with your class parent team when setting your date and refer to the Year Groups Event Calendar - you must ensure there are no conflicting year group or Prep events scheduled on your proposed date.
- Before you confirm with your venue - please contact the Jacqui Foord to seek approval for your date (she will liaise with Prep for confirmation).
Pay the deposit - you may ask the P&F to pay the deposit (please ensure you can meet any minimum numbers/costs before booking).
Collect payments - please use TryBooking to collect payments - your year group Treasurer has the log in details for your TryBooking.
Communications - post camp details and Trybooking link on your class WhatsApp Group - or you can set up a dads-only group for this purpose.
Wavier form - please ask your dads to complete the Father Son Camp Waiver.

Venues and Activities

Please find advice below and see suggested venues and activities that have worked well in the past.

Venue - gauge the adventure appetite of your year group and choose a location and activities accordingly.
Activities - we highly encourage outdoor activities that build resilience and are collaborative (be mindful of possible age limits for activities).
Cost - indicative costs are between $200-$400 per father-son.
Location - please consider travel time (for years 3-6 you will leave after Saturday sport).
Attendance - if a dad is unable to attend a 'father figure' may attend or a dad in the year can volunteer to take the boy.
