My name is Mark Tello-Rincon. I’m a junior in the Health Sciences Pathway. I’m a Health Sciences ambassador, the president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness club, an ATC Blood Drive lead working with Cedars Sinai, and I’m in the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Superintendent Advisory Council, working alongside the LA County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Debra Duardo, to better the public school system.
My favorite experiences in the pathway have been able to take field trips designed for Health Sciences students. One of my favorite trips was being able to go to Sacramento for the Health Occupation Students of America's (HOSA) State Leadership Conference (SLC). The picture you see is of me standing in front of the State Capital building in Sacramento. Another favorite trip of mine was being able to go to a health sciences university with a morgue to see the human body and explore its different body systems in real life, as well as see babies in different stages of pregnancy. It was a surreal and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
