DD services are designed for individuals with intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy and other neurologically disabling conditions. When considering eligibility, DD services will look at scores on standardized IQ testing and adaptive behavior assessments for intellectual disability (e.g., they may find eligible individuals with IQs as high as 75, if there is clear evidence of adaptive deficits). They will look at other diagnostic information (e.g., medical statements) and scores on standardized adaptive behavior assessments for other disabling conditions.
DD program services can include case management (e.g., develop support plan, collaborate with care providers), family support (e.g., respite, community inclusion, and in-home supports), residential services, and crisis intervention (e.g., assist families in accessing crisis services that may include in-home supports, respite care, behavior consultation, or short-term or long-term residential or foster care placements). See https://www.clackamas.us/socialservices/ddchildren.html for more information about DD program services.
Most often, parents are provided with the Clackamas County Developmental Disabilities Intake Line number (503-557-2824; available Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.). In some cases, it can be helpful for staff to assist parents in calling the intake line.
