School Health Services are defined as a collaborative effort between clinical staff within the school setting, such as the nurse and school health assistant, educators and support staff, private sector clinicians, students and parents. School Health Services are delivered in a variety of ways through population based preventative care such as education and health screenings, to acute and emergency response, and chronic disease management. (see School Health Procedures for more)

2. an IEP goal is made that specifies what the student will learn (e.g., an adaptive goal “she will learn to identify medical symptoms and when she should apply her medical protocol:),
3. under SDI the time the special education teacher will provide instruction for the goal is put in, 4. the team checks a related service is required and the nursing minutes related to supporting the goals are put in under related services, and
5. minutes related to consulting with staff are put under Needs for Supports for School Personnel.

It could mean one of two things:
The student has a health condition, which may or may not be significant
The student has a health protocol
Because so many conditions can cause the red cross to pop up, it is best to run a class health conditions report in Synergy to find all students with a medical protocol on file.
