Reading Circles aims to nurture advanced young readers by delving into age-appropriate fiction and fostering a love for reading. The programme is conducted synchronously and asynchronously. Thus, allowing for interactive discussions and activities, while providing flexibility for the students’ learning schedule.
The key objectives of the Reading Circles programme:
1. Exposing participants to a diverse range of rich texts, including fiction and related non- fiction, to broaden their understanding of different subjects, contexts, and writing styles.
2. Encouraging active inquiry and critical thinking skills among participants to deepen their insights into the stories, characters, and themes encountered in their readings.
3. Cultivating authentic connections between readers and texts, fostering imagination, perspective-taking, and empathy.
4. Equipping participants with the language skills necessary to express and communicate their evolving ideas and understandings effectively
