The Eco-Lit programme integrates Environment Education, Arts and delivers through the English curriculum that focuses on productive skills - inquire, write, speak and present. Students participate in learning journeys, workshops and conversations where they gather and communicate ideas so as to produce literary work. Such end products are visually appealing and include moral and ethics that arise from environmental issues.
As part of giving back to the community, the Eco-literacy programme presented three titles of the Eco-literacy books, written by WGPS students and focused on local context, to Tasek Jurong. The books will be useful for their educational trips to the parks and support their reading programme by educating the children about environmental issues.
Eco-lit students had the opportunity to visit the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM). During the learning journey, they were introduced to the various specimens showcased in the biodiversity and heritage galleries of the museum. It was an enriching journey that allowed students to view the vast collections of specimens found in the museum up close, such as dinosaur fossils, the sperm whale that washed up on Singapore's shore and many more.
