P5 and P6 students attended a writing programme where they were introduced to relevant skills to improve their writing by a professional writer/author. Students learned how to elaborate their ideas by slowing down a scene and elaborate with details by learning to write with showing sentences (e.g., using sensory details).Â
This workshop even adopted a flipped classroom approach where students were meaningfully engaged beyond the classroom while preparing themselves for each session. It was a valuable learning experience as students learned essential skills of writing an engaging and effective piece of text, at the same time cultivating a joy of writing.
