🚧 This Microsite is a Work in Progress 🚧 Let’s collaborate to grow our capacity and resources.
1. What are Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC)?
E21CC are skills and mindsets such as critical thinking, inventive thinking, adaptive thinking, communication, collaboration, information skills, civic literacy, cross-cultural literacy, and global literacy that prepare our students to thrive in a VUCA world.
2. Why are E21CC important for our students?
These competencies empower students to navigate real-world challenges, build resilience, and contribute meaningfully to society. They go beyond academics to develop character and future readiness.
3. How is E21CC different from the core 21CC framework?
E21CC focuses on emerging skills and dispositions that are increasingly vital in a rapidly changing world. They complement the core framework by deepening students’ application in authentic contexts.
4. How can teachers integrate E21CC into lessons?
Teachers can:
Embed guiding questions in lessons.
Design student development experiences (SDEs) with collaboration, problem-solving, and reflection.
Provide opportunities for students to showcase competencies in projects and class discussions.
5. Will teaching E21CC take up additional curriculum time?
No. The aim is to infuse E21CC into existing curriculum and SDEs, not to add extra content. It is about being intentional in lesson design.
6. How do we know if students are demonstrating E21CC?
Teachers can use rubrics, reflective prompts, and observations of student behaviour during discussions, projects, or VIA to assess E21CC development.
7. What support is available for teachers?
The microsite provides:
Lesson ideas and resources
Rubrics and assessment tools
Examples of good practices from colleagues
Professional development opportunities
8. How does E21CC connect with school programmes (e.g., LLP, VIA, CCA)?
E21CC are infused across all Student Development Experiences, including academic lessons, CCA, LLP projects, and VIA. This ensures holistic development of every student.
9. Can students reflect on their E21CC growth?
Yes. The individual e-Portfolio allows students to track and showcase their competencies, which also helps in interviews and future applications.
10. Who can I reach out to if I need help with E21CC?
You can contact the E21CC Office, Subject Heads, or LLP team for guidance and support.
