What is TEXTURE?
The surface quality of an object, which can be felt physically or implied in an artwork.
There are 2 types of TEXTURES
1. Real/Tactile Texture: Can be felt physically
Tree Bark
The rough texture of this tree bark is real and can be felt physically.
2. Visual/Perceived/Simulated Texture: Implied visually

In this painting, Van Gogh had used choppy brushstrokes to paint himself and the background, creating a visual texture that you can imagine by seeing.
