What is SHAPE?
A two-dimensional area defined by boundaries.
A shape is also the contour or outline of something.
Two types of SHAPES
Geometric Shapes
Regular and precise, based on mathematical formulars.
Examples: Circle, Oval, Square, Rectangle, Triangle, Diamond, Trapezium, Octagon etc.
Organic
Free-form and resemble natural forms like leaves, flowers, and clouds.
Examples: Leaf-shaped, Egg-shaped, Petal-shaped, etc.
Check out these video resources on geometric and organic shapes.
Words and phrases to use when talking about SHAPES

Forked: Divided into two or more branches at an angle.
Concave: Having a surface that curves inward.
Convex: Having a surface that curves outward.
Circular / Squarish / Rectangular / Oval etc.
How do shapes express different ideas or emotions?
Examples:
Circle - Jolly, happy, cute, friendly, soft, welcoming
Triangle - Stable, grounded, sensitive, aggressive
Square/Rectangle - Determined, strong, firm, stable, stubborn
Examples of SHAPES in Art and around us
Round shapes like circles are associated with being friendly and approachable. See the examples of round shapes in what we see around us: cartoon characters, logos, and furniture.

Food for thought: How is sitting in a circle different from sitting in a square?
Triangles can give off a sense of speed, evil, danger, or stability, depending on how they are being used.
Maleficent (Character)
Use of rectangular shape to create a sense of strength and stability.
