Why sight words?
Sight words are words a child should learn to recognise without sounding out the letters
Examples of sight words include: "the," "and," "a," "to," "in," "that," "is," "it," "for," "of," "was," "with," "you," "he," "she" etc
A good grasp of sight words increases speed, fluency and comprehension when reading
Many sight words do not follow regular phonetic patterns or rulesRecognising sight words is the most efficient way to read such words sight
