Objective:
Improve students’ academic engagement and behaviour through the influence of caring peers
Choose a buddy (e.g., Care Monitor, Prefects, CCA Leaders) that will serve as a good role model
You may use more than one buddy or partner
Talk in private with the buddy about why you are partnering them up
To ask them to interact more and help another specific student to be more confident
Talk in private with the student who needs the buddy
Explain that they will be partnered up with another student to gain more confidence
Speak with the two students together and explain the purpose of putting them together and what your expectations are
When choosing partners for assignments or choosing groups for projects, make a point to place less confident students with more confident students
Praise students frequently when they exhibit confidence
Consider giving rewards, a handwritten note when the students exhibit confidence
E.g. Participating in class activities, volunteering a certain number of times
