Our day began at the War Remnants Museum, where we confronted the realities of the Vietnam War through powerful photographs, personal stories, and haunting artifacts. The exhibit on Agent Orange left a lasting impression, showing us how the war’s impact continues to affect generations. Our Vice-Principal, Mr Syed, provided a short briefing on the Vietnam War and the broader Indochina conflicts, helping us understand the historical context and reinforcing the importance of peace.
After lunch, we visited Hong Duc Middle School for a lively cultural exchange. We were warmly welcomed by Vietnamese students, who greeted us with enthusiasm. Together, we shared traditional games, exchanged performances, and introduced them to life at Canberra Secondary School. Our students even taught a short lesson on Singapore-Vietnam relations. The visit ended with a thoughtful gift exchange, leaving everyone with shared memories.
Enjoy the video our students created about life at Canberra, along with the slide deck we shared with out Vietnamese friends below!
The evening wrapped up with a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show. With puppets gliding across water to tell folktales and scenes of daily life, we were drawn into the rhythms of Vietnamese culture.
Reflecting on the day, we felt grateful for the depth of history we witnessed and the friendships we formed. Today offered a perfect balance of learning and connection.
