WHAT YOU SAY: As you know, Each month we are going to talk about a different LIFE SKILL. What is a LIFE SKILL?
(Let's kids answer.)
Life skills is a term used to describe a set of basic skills acquired through learning and/or direct life experience that enable individuals and groups to effectively handle issues and problems commonly encountered in daily life.
Life skills help us succeed in life. Life skills help us set & achieve goals, solve problems, respect one another and more!
A life skill can be as simple as learning to do your own laundry or as big as learning to be responsible. And that brings us to ....
This month's Life Skill is RESPONSIBILITY.
WHAT YOU SAY: WHAT IS RESPONSIBILITY? Don't be shy...don't worry about giving a wrong answer. What do you think RESPONSIBILITY means?
(Let kids answer.)
Those were really great answers. Thanks for volunteering!
What is responsibility? We have a few different ways that we talk about responsibility. There’s being responsible, taking responsibility, acting responsibly, and having responsibilities. They are all related to doing the things we are supposed to do, and taking responsibility for your actions-which means you own up to your own actions and don't try to lie about things you have done.
A responsibility: something you are expected to do
Being responsible: doing the things you are supposed to do
Accepting responsibility: taking the praise or the blame for something you have done
Now it's time for our Opening Activity.
Responsibility Game
What you will need: Kids will need the a blank piece of paper and a writing instrument.
Leader will need list of Questions with Answers. (See below.)
Lesson 7 Responsibility and Independence
#3 Opening Activity
This game will help kids to better understand the concept of what being responsible is and what is not. This is intended to help give kids examples of how they can practice responsibility, and to give them a clear idea of responsible and irresponsible behavior.
What you do:
Have each kid number their paper from 1-10.
Read through the 10 questions and have them right down yes or no, answering the "Is this responsible question?" .
When you are finished, review the correct answers
This should help you assess how much they already understand about responsibility.
Wow...you know a lot about being responsible!
WHAT YOU SAY: We are going to sing a fun song about RESPONSIBILITY .
WHAT YOU DO: Share your screen in the next text box
Get ready to sing along with video!
