Wrap Up Review
WHAT YOU SAY: Good morning everyone! So to start, we are going to go around and say our names and state one thing that you like to do. I'll start. My name is ________________ and I really like _______________. Now it's your turn.
Ok friends, it's time to learn our THEME SONG! I'm going to share my screen with you and we are going to sing it twice today. We will sing it every time we meet to get us pumped up! I hope you like it! It's called WHAT I AM by WILL. I. AM.
WHAT YOU SAY: We are going to chat right now about some Get To Know You questions...
WHAT YOU DO: Move to next text box and Share your screen
WHAT YOU SAY: OK great! Over the next months, we are going to talk about Life Skills... Let's talk about what a Life Skill IS...
What is a LIFE SKILL?
(let's kids answer)
Life skills is a term used to describe a set of basic skills acquired through learning and/or direct life experience that enable individuals and groups to effectively handle issues and problems commonly encountered in daily life.
Life skills help us succeed in life. Life skills help us set & achieve goals, solve problems, respect one another and more!
A life skill can be as simple as learning to do your own laundry or as big as learning to be responsible.
But for today, we are going to 'Get to Know YOU'
WHAT YOU SAY: We're going to watch a short video about being UNIQUE and then we're going to do an activity!
WHAT YOU DO: Share your screen to the next text box.
WHAT YOU NEED:Paper, markers, mirrors
WHAT YOU SAY: That was a great video! Does anyone have any comments about it?
OK kids, Take your paper out of the packet and markers or crayons. If you have a small mirror, get that out too now. We are going to draw a self portrait. You have 5 minutes. Each portrait is going to look completely different! You can't be wrong! Your self portrait is going to be PERFECT! So, let's get started. Here's the clock. See you in 5 minutes!
WHAT YOU DO: Share your screen to the next text box
WHAT YOU SAY:
OK KIDS, 5 minutes is up. Show me your self portrait! Hold them up! I love them! They look great!
Each portrait looks different, which shouldn't be a surprise since each of us was created differently. Some of us have blue eyes, some brown eyes.Look around at all the different hair colors we have.Even though a few of us have brown hair, we still have different shades of brown. We were all created differently, but one big thing we have in common is that we are all creative in our own special ways. You are here for a reason!!
Does anyone want to comment on their self portraits? Was it easy or hard to draw a self portrait?
Now it's time for another quick video on being YOU-nique.
WHAT YOU DO : Share your screen to the next text box.
WHAT YOU SAY: Ok, Now pull out your Celebrate You Activity Sheet and let's answer these questions. Feel free to write your answers down on your paper. Go ahead and answer...
WHAT YOU SAY: Now would anyone like to share their ideas? Let's answer the first question...
(let kids answer and talk amongst themselves about their answers)
OK KIDS - YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! And you were created to be YOU. I love how different we all are. Let's celebrate each other. Everyone clap for each other!
WHAT YOU SAY: OK Kids, it's time to move it! We want you to get up and get active. These are my Go Noodles friends. Has anyone heard of them? They are really silly, but really fun. ... Let's stand up and show our dance moves!
WHAT YOU DO: Stand up, dance along with kids.
(an opportunity to review this month's Life Skill and apply it to their lives)
WHAT YOU SAY: It was so much fun to be with you today and to learn a little about each of you. We are all different and we are made different so we can contribute to our beautiful world in different ways.
Does anyone have anything else they would like to add or talk about?
Did you all have fun today?
So next time we meet, we are going to dive into our Life Skills. I hope you have a safe and wonderful month. We're going to sign off now....
WHAT YOU DO: End session in the way of your choosing.
