In Tycoon, players try to earn the most money after a set amount of time. Answering questions adds money while wrong questions subtract money. Players can also purchase different things to improve their chances. Upgrades come in four different types, each in ten levels. Powerups can help boost your money or sabotage others. Themes do not help you but they make the questions and answer choices look different colors.
Gain/lose a different amount of money per question. For example, if you buy Money Per Question II, right answers will give you $5 instead of $1, while wrong answers will take away $5 instead of $1 (this all assumes you have Multiplier I and Insurance I).
Levels:

Gain an extra amount of money for each question you answer correctly in a streak. For example, 1 to 2 to 3 to 4... (So your money is quadratic).

Completely useless upgrade. Only pay a percentage back when answering incorrectly. Definitely not useful at all, even in extremely difficult sets, especially when there is a high Streak Bonus level. Percentage listed here is the amount you pay, but the percentage listed in Gimkit is the amount that is covered.

X. Costs $500,000,000, Pay 1%
Note: This was listed as of December 7, 2024. Powerups may have been added or removed since then, and there may be seasonal powerups that are appearing here. Snowstorm and Jingle Bells are likely seasonal. Pumpkin Pie and Spider Web are known October-November powerups and are not listed here.
Basic Strategy: For 20x earnings on a question, just apply Mini Bonus, Mega Bonus, and Minute to Win It all at the same time. The Minute To Win It should be the last one activated so that its maximum effect can be used.
Starting Cost is the cost at the start of the game. Note that questions can make it drastically increase in price.
Snowstorm: Starting Cost is $320 / It's snowing money! Your balance will automatically increase by 5% every 20 seconds!
Rebooter: Starting Cost is $1,000 / Reuse all of your powerups a second time (except for Rebooter)
Minute to Win It: Starting Cost is $500 / Double your earnings for the next 60 seconds (this does not include prices of upgrades or powerups, but does include wrong questions)
Quadgrader: Starting Cost is $1,200 / Upgrade Money Per Question, Streak Bonus, Multiplier, and Insurance by one level each for free (actually the price of the quadgrader powerup).
Discounter: Starting Cost is $250 / All shop upgrades, powerups, and themes are 25% off for 5 minutes.
Shield: Starting Cost is $25 / Prevent other players from using a sabotage powerup against you for 3 minutes
Mini Bonus: Starting Cost is $20 / Earnings are multiplied by 2x for a single question
Mega Bonus: Starting Cost is $50 / Earnings are multiplied by 5x for a single question
Icer: Starting Cost is $40 / Freeze other players! They won't be able to answer questions or use the shop for 15 seconds. Note that the teacher can also use ice.
Outnumbered: Starting Cost is $150 / Inundate another player with numbers (their screen will show a bunch of numbers and they have to click them 1 to 9). Usually takes less than 15 seconds so Icer is a lot more powerful than Outnumbered despite the lower price.
Blur: Starting Cost is $40 / Blur another player's screen for 15 seconds.
Subtractor: Starting Cost is $150 / Decrease another player's balance by 20%.
Jingle Bells (or any other song): Starting Cost is $50 / Change the music
Clapinator: Starting Cost is $20 / At the end of the game when you click the claps it is 10x claps
Gift: Starting Cost is $200 / Increase another player's balance by 25%.
