Today I let the students pick a computer that will be their assigned seat for the quarter.  After  they logged into the computer and then  logged into typing.com.  There is a video that shows you how to login to yping.comYour username and password will be your school login name and password.  Then the students completed the "Tech Readiness" lesson along with learn the keys - J, F, & space.  At the end of class I taught  them how to log out of the computer correctly, it is different than what they are used to so please watch the video to learn how.  Remember these are new computers and I need you to be soft on the keys and treat them carefully.

I had students log in and begin typing on typing.com.  They practiced for 5 minutes and then we did a fun activity learning about keyboard technique.  In order to type well there are important techniques that need to be practiced.  We learned these techniques by folding a frog and labeling it.  Here is the "Frog powerpoint presentation" that I shared in class.   Here are the list of keyboarding techniques you need to know.

Week 2

August 22, 2022

Welcome back to the 2nd week of school.  Today we did 5 minutes of typing on typing.com (please do this if you were late or absent) and then we learned how to log on to Canvas as well as explore the settings of Canvas.  We learned how to change the view and  remove or add a color overlay on the course card.  We also explored how to change the color of the overlay along with giving it a nickname.  I also showed students how to add a user picture to their account along with notification preferences.  Lastly I showed students how to access the calendar.  The calendar is a great tool that lets you quickly see when assignments are due.  It is very important to get in the habit of checking Canvas daily.

After exploring canvas I had students do the "About Me" assignment (video link) found in the modules tab on canvas.  Videos for all  of these will be coming soon.

Today was a busy day.  Students typed for the first 5 minutes of class and then finished their "About Me" word art project.  For more information about that see yesterday's assignment or look it up on Canvas.  Some classes finished early and we were able to begin Module 2- which is how a computer works.
