District Training Plan for
Tier 1 Installation

Districts often request a training outline for Tier 1 Installation. There is no one-plan-fits-all. All training and technical assistance plans should be based on a district needs assessment. Below is just one example of a training plan, developed for a district with some current implementation in every school, but no training in the past 5 years and inconsistent Tier 1 fidelity across all schools. The plan was implemented over 1.5 school years.

Sample District Training Plan for Tier 1 Installation

- Pre-work - District Leadership Team Planning: Analyze district needs, explore training content, identify key personnel, plan for dates and messages.
- Day 1 -Leading Tier 1: Building Strong Foundations for School-wide PBIS for district-based coach(es), building administrators, and Tier 1 team leaders from each school.
- Days 2 &3 - Tier 1 Team training days for district-based coach(es) and Tier 1 School Teams
- On-going Coaching: Support action planning and implementation of Tier 1 Systems, Data, Practices
- Annual Evaluation:
  - Conduct school-walkthroughs using Tiered Fidelity Inventory Walkthrough
  - Team self-assessment using Tiered Fidelity Inventory
  - Gather staff perception of implementation using Self Assessment Survey
  - Gather staff, student, and family perception using Feedback and Input Survey and/or School Climate Survey
- Additional Training ,Coaching, and Networking Opportunities:

What is Tier 1?

New to PBIS implementation? Wondering what Tier 1 PBIS is? Or do you just need a refresher to keep current because it’s been a while? This session is for you. During this hour, we define PBIS, dispel common misconceptions, and provide an overview of Tier 1 PBIS implementation. This live virtual meeting will also allow time for Q&A and help identify next steps in implementation.

Tier 1 Team Training -
Capacity Building Sequence

This training will support your team in assessing current systems for defining, teaching, reinforcing, and responding to behaviors and use of data for decision making to devise an action plan. This training is suited for both schools new to implementing Tier 1 PBIS as well as teams that need a revamp or boost in their implementation.

Classroom Practices

This training helps school teams bring schoolwide PBIS into the classroom by deepening their understanding of what core PBIS practices look like in daily instruction. Teams will learn how to support teachers in consistently implementing effective classroom practices and how to organize systems that develop pro-social skills and de-escalate behaviors that interfere with learning. Participants will leave with an actionable plan to strengthen schoolwide support for positive, predictable classroom environments.
