Students have the option to choose between three types of advisors at Miami Regionals. Their assigned faculty advisor, a professional general advisor, and an on-call advisor. A faculty advisor is an advisor you should talk to when you have declared a major. They know all of the information about your major, employment options, and they also know when the courses for your major are available semester-wise. A professional advisor is someone you should talk to if your assigned faculty advisor is unavailable or you have not declared a major yet. They can help you determine which major to choose, recommend courses to take, and help you explore career options. An on-call advisor is an advisor you can call at Miami Regionals who will quickly answer any questions you may have and can also schedule an advising appointment for you.
For more information on which advisor you should talk to, click here and look under the section titled "Which Advisor Should I See?"
Even if your current faculty advisor is unavailable, you should utilize your professional advisor and the on-call advisors. They are there to help you, so if you have an important question don't feel like you have to wait for your faculty advisor to become available to you. Try reaching out and using the other options as well.
