The best way to schedule an appointment is by emailing your assigned advisor to create the appointment for you. For instructions on how to find your advisor, click here. Additionally, you can also schedule an appointment with a professional advisor through a website called Navigate. It should also be noted that most faculty advisors do not use Navigate for scheduling appointments, but professional advisors do. For a detailed explanation of scheduling appointments through Navigate click here and look for the section called "Scheduling your Appointment."
To cancel an appointment through Navigate, click here and look under the section called "Canceling an Appointment in Navigate."
A remote advising appointment is an appointment with your advisor that takes place online and not in person. These meetings can take place via Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx, and Phone. If students want to meet with their advisor through a different platform or by phone, they should let their advisor know through email before the scheduled appointment. For more information on how to schedule a remote advising appointment, click here and look under the sections "Scheduling a Remote Appointment" and "Attending your Remote Appointment (Zoom)."
Students at Miami University Regionals have the option to attend meetings with an academic advisor in person or virtually.
Students can schedule an appointment to meet with a specific advisor (usually your assigned or general advisor). These are typically 30 minutes in duration.
Drop-in advising with an available advisor is offered on-campus during specific times. These are typically 10 minutes in duration.
On-call advisors are also available by phone or email to answer quick questions!
When you are signing up for classes for next semester be aware of your time ticket. Depending on your student status, whether you use disability services, or you are a military veteran, you will have different times to sign up for the next semester. Miami will send several email alerts to remind you, but be aware of how busy this time will be for your academic advisor. You should try and plan ahead and meet with your academic advisor 2 weeks before you can schedule for classes! Worst case scenario, you don't get the class you want or need and have to be on a waiting list.
