Frequent communication with an academic advisor will allow you to gain knowledge on where to begin, which classes to take, graduation plans, and any additional guidance you may need. Miami University's advisors help students to make decisions about their majors, minors, and thematic sequences while also monitoring student academic progress and providing assistance with course planning.
Every student at Miami University is automatically assigned an advisor depending on their major or student status (new or transfer student). Prior to enrollment, it is advised that new and transferring students speak to an advisor about getting started at Miami University Regionals. To find your advisor, first log into the MyMiami website. Once logged in, locate the "Academic Advising - Who is my Advisor?" link under "Student Essentials." You can also type "Academic Advising" into the search engine to locate this link.
Once you click on the link, it will take you to a page that shows you your name, your academic advisor and contact information, your major, your academic division, and your current degree being pursued.

Though they can guide you on the right path, it is still your responsibility to make sure you are taking classes that are needed for your degree. Understanding your Degree Audit Report (DAR) and learning how to sign up for classes will greatly improve your chances of successfully graduating!
