For my we search project I decided to do my mom because she came to new york from trinidad and haven't fully achieved her American Dream and I wanted to get her story out there to show that the American Dream isn't fast and takes time. In the picture it shows Reena in the green sari, her husband Rajkumar in the dark blue and her two kids on both sides Roshini next to Rajkumar and Rani next to Reena.

Brief Biography
Reena was born on July 28, 1977 in Preysal, Trinidad . She grew up with 3 sisters and parents who got divorced. Preysal was a part of many places in Trinidad that was considered a village. In a village everyone knew each other, and you were never home alone, you were always out by someone else's house, or people were over by your house. And no matter how small the houses were you always managed to fit everyone in and make sure everyone was comfortable. But that also means that everyone was partying and drinking. Although most people would think it would be fun having everyone over and being near people, it got draining and then everyday would repeat itself and it got boring very quickly.
How does your individual family member’s story help you to understand the American Dream?
To me my mom's story helped me understand the American dream by showing that it's not something that can just happen in two seconds coming to new york, but that it takes time and effort and a lot of help to be able to acheieve it. When I was first learning about the american dream I didn't realize how much time and effort had to go into it. but hearing and learning more about my mom's story helped me realize that even though she's been here for over 20 years she still not as happy and been able to achieve the American Dream.
