This refresher session covers all four practices, that being promote wellbeing, having candid conversations, building ownership, and making time to reflect and adapt. Because of this, you may feel as if there is not enough time within the 90 minutes to go over all of the videos and discussions.
Feel free to customize your session based on your team needs. Consider having a conversation before you begin to ask your team members if they want to prioritize one practice over another. Each practice takes about 20-45 minutes, so don't hesitate to jump around the content to develop your own unique session and the best experience possible for your team members.

Check your own emotional state.
Create and maintain a safe space.
Consider taking a minute of silence and eyes closed (or soft focus) to create a mindful space and help everyone be fully present in the session.
Today’s refresher topics are about promoting wellbeing, having candid conversations, building ownership, and making time to reflect and adapt. We will reflect on what costs us energy and what gives us energy, as well as how we can further build connections with others.
We will look at ways to orient towards what is working and to acknowledge progress. Plus we will consider the expectations and wellbeing agreements we want to set together.
There is a possibility to receive a badge upon your completion of the People with Possibility Refresher Course! After this session, please click on the button at the bottom of this page that will take you to the verification and feedback form.

Think of candid conversations you have been involved in that created better connections with the other person. What made those conversations effective?
What potential threats keep you from having difficult conversations? What do you need so you can overcome those and have those needed conversations?
What will help you feel safe, secure and confident enough to ask for feedback?

2:33 MINS
How would you prepare for the conversation using the COIN model?
How will you acknowledge the other person's reactions/emotions, without letting them affect your calm, collected state?
How can you show you are partners in this conversation?

3:17 MINS
What can get in your way of giving or taking authority?
How might you build trust (e.g. more experience, more understanding of the ‘why’) so you can take (or be given) more ownership?
How do we build ownership with those more senior to us? How do we build it with peers?
10 MINS | 55-65
1:59 MINS
When have you taken time to reflect? Personally? As a team?
How might we navigate away from negative emotions while taking the time to reflect?
10 MINS | 65-75
There are certain commitments that we can make both individually and as a team that can potentially help us retain the People with Possibility material and further benefit us while we navigate challenges at work:
Prioritizing wellbeing is essential, and it is important to have candid conversations with our team members about expectations within the workplace that can benefit our own wellbeing. Consider printing the Promote Wellbeing poster for your desk to demonstrate to your team that you care deeply about their work, personal wellbeing, and you are open to conversations about how to better meet everyone's energy needs.
Consider utilizing the COIN notes to prepare for candid conversations with team members in the future.
Joining the PwP Workplace group is also a great way to further discussions on the four sessions that we have revisited today.
Take a moment to write down one or two actions you will take to the wellbeing for
Yourself

What has resonated with you from today's session? What would you like to practice after the refresher course?
Here are some suggestions:
Actively manage your energy – consume food and drink that boosts your energy for longer, take breaks when your PFC capacity is low.
Take time to focus on what is working well, and to acknowledge progress, for yourself and with others. Write down what is going well and share it!
Continue to practice your new personal wellbeing habits, and speak up as needed to help the group implement wellbeing agreements and boundaries.
‘Set up for success’ to help get yourself into the right mental place
Use the COIN model
Find ways to keep the learning alive – e.g., buddies, group conversation where people can share their wins and insights.
Think about how you would like to be supported by your manager, and whether your ‘problem solver’ switch is on.
How can you make time to reflect and adapt this week?
How can you use 1-1 meetings to look out for ways to support others, emotionally or practically, and to offer that support?
Is there a candid conversation you could have?
Think back to your Be SAFE & Certain preferences. How might these be influencing your expectations? Or the way you manage?
Take time to reflect about the 1-1 meetings you have. How effective or successful are they and how might you want to improve them?
How much does the team currently look out for each other’s wellbeing or signs of burnout?
How will you create a safe, open space in which to have candid conversations - about work topics, as well as interpersonal issues?
How can you make sure the team leaves a team meeting with clear expectations, rather than assumptions?
Take time to reflect on your participation in team meetings. What can you learn about your contributions and your impact on others? How might you want to adapt those?
Share the wellbeing agreements you have in your team.
How can you be intentional in noticing what a new team member needs?
How can you be intentional in helping a new team member have a sense of ownership of Mercy Corps’ mission? Of team ownership? Of work ownership?
How could you introduce new team members to this practice of 'Make Time to Reflect and Adapt?'
