As Falkor (too) is a Cayman flag vessel, we use international alarm signals, which may be different from those used on American and other vessels. The emergency procedures will be covered during your orientation.
General Alarm: seven short blast + one long blast
Fire Alarm: continuous ring
Evacuation Alarm: long + short + long + short + long + short blasts
These drills are required by the Flag State authorities and international maritime law. The first drill will normally be held prior to departing the dock. The Chief Scientist should consult with the Captain and Cruise Coordinator to discuss the schedule of at-sea drills so as to constitute minimum interference with the scientific program. All members of the science party not actively on instrument watch or involved in an over-the-side operation are required to participate in each drill, unless otherwise directed by the Captain. Proper clothing for drills consists of hat or head covering, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, long trousers, and covered shoes. Each member of the science party should bring such clothing aboard.
