There are no recreational or illegal drugs allowed on the vessel and all personnel must not have drugs in their system. Having illicit substances on board a vessel is a serious offense. Attempting to transport recreational drugs into foreign countries may have severe consequences.
The Master may authorize the consumption of alcohol in controlled quantities for personnel aboard the ship so long as such authorization does not allow for any person to be intoxicated.
The only alcohol that may be consumed aboard the ship is beer or wine. Beer and wine consumed on the ship will be provided and controlled by the ship’s Master or designee.
Special personnel and guests shall not perform or attempt to perform, within four hours of consuming any alcohol, any scheduled duties, the operation of machinery and equipment, or the handling of hazardous materials. They shall not be intoxicated at any time.
Hard liquor shall not be consumed on board the ship. Private possession of alcohol is not permitted to be brought on board. Privately owned alcohol must be declare to the Master who will lock it in bond until the crew member (special personnel) departs the ship.
The minimum age to consume alcohol aboard the ship is twenty-one (21).
Violation of this rule by any person aboard the ship will lead to disciplinary action and closure of the alcohol locker for an indefinite period. Violation of this policy is cause for removal from the ship.
The location of where smoking is permitted aboard ship is strictly regulated for reasons of safety, fire prevention, personal health, and comfort. While the vessel is docked, no smoking is permitted; a designated smoking area with ashtray will be set up on the pier. The smokers are responsible for keeping the smoking area (including the ashtrays) clean both on the ship and at the pier.
