There are two ways to share a Google My Map.
- Copy the url of the web page with the Google My Map. The ur/link will look like this: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1f0YdLYjhgEKCurqUJAosuRSqVlubvUSU&ll=39.910259991597854%2C-74.81695157147584&z=16. Note it starts with /maps/d/u and includes the latitude, longitude and zoom level. This link will reflect the view at the time it is copied.
- Click on Share, and copy the ‘Link to share.’ The url/link will look like this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1f0YdLYjhgEKCurqUJAosuRSqVlubvUSU&usp=sharing Note this link has no location or screen information and is set when you select the ‘Set default view.’ This is the choice described below.
- Open the Google My Map
- Click on Share (in row that says Add layer Share Preview)
- For Who has access, click Change
- Set to Public on the web, or Anyone with the link, or whatever else you want, but it will affect who can see it.
- You can then copy the Link to share and email it, or
- Enter an email address I the Invite people: box,
- In the box on the right of the email, select whether the recipient can edit or only view the map.
- Add a message if desired.
- Click Send
- In either case (#5 or #9) the person will receive an email with a link to the Map.
