Hello Artists!

Welcome to Art at CES! Students call me Mrs. Maurais. This is my 9th year at CES. I enjoy the outdoors, cooking, and painting.

Below, you can find some information about your art class this year, expectations for art class, and some images of artwork from students! I look forward to creating with you this year.

K-4: Building Blocks of Art

In K-4 art, we build our skills and learn about the history of art, from the days of Cave Painting all the way up to Pop Art; from how to make and use line all the way up to drawing from life.

You will learn about different well known artists, art from different cultures, art movements, and how to create and express YOURSELF.

My expectations for you are to-

Be Safe- use materials safely, use kind words, be in control of your body, listen to instructions in class.

Be Kind- to yourself, your classmates, your teachers, and your materials.

Be Here- listen and follow instructions, participate in class, and complete your assignments.

Middle School: Application of Art

Hello Artists,

In Middle School art, we apply our knowledge from K-4 and we use it to challenge ourselves. Your art becomes more personal and purposeful. You will try more challenging techniques and learn about more recent artists. You will think critically about famous art, your art, and your classmates art. Art is all about critical thinking and we will do lots of it!

My expectations for you are-
