The "Pride of Montrose" Marching Band has an established tradition of excellence, with over 100 members across woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard. The Pride of Montrose placed 4th in the 2023 4A State Marching Band Finals Competition, setting a new school record. The band also earned the caption award for top visual achievement among all competing ensembles, and placed first in Regional Competition.
The Marching/Concert Band classes consist of marching band during the first quarter, and concert band during the second quarter. The marching band begins rehearsing in late May / early June with multiple day camps, and rehearses after school once the school year begins. This group performs at all home football games, regional competitions, and the CBA State Marching Band Championships. The band also performs at the annual Montrose 4th of July Parade and the Parade of Lights in December.
The Color Guard performs as part of the marching band, and is a class for students interested in dance and other forms of physical and musical expression. Students learn routines using flags and other equipment. After marching season, the color guard transitions to Winter Guard season.
The marching band staff includes director of bands Sheridan Loyd, assistant marching band director and Centennial MS director of bands Cameron Beauchamp, color guard instructor Natasha Zepeda, assistant color guard instructors Kaylee Bia and Alexa Madden, percussion technicians Andrew Mueller and Miles Bollman, and woodwind/brass technicians Casey Gerczynski and Kailyn Pashman.
Our 2023 show "Studio City" has drill and visual design by Joshua Dawes and music arrangement by Dustin Smith.
