concert bands

The Wind Ensemble is MHS's premiere concert ensemble. Students are accepted based on audition, taking place the spring before, and will perform the highest caliber wind band literature. Students will also study music theory, history, and composition. In 2025, the MHS Wind Ensemble received a Superior Rating at the CBA State Concert Band Festival, the band's first appearance at the state festival since 2012. 

The MHS Symphonic Band is open to students of all levels. Students will work on ensemble skills and study wind band literature, music theory, history, and composition. All students involved in the concert bands also participate in the MHS Pep Band, and will perform in the CBA Regional Concert Band Festival in Grand Junction / Palisade.
