Located on the Western Slope of Colorado, the Montrose High School Band program consists of dedicated students committed to the highest level of excellence. Students may choose from a variety of performing ensembles, including the "Pride of Montrose" Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Advanced Jazz Band, Intermediate Jazz Band, and Winter Guard. Montrose High School also offers music theory and introduction to guitar.
Montrose High School's Band Program received the Colorado Bandmasters Association Exemplary Band Award for the first time in 2023. The Advanced Jazz Ensemble performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association Convention in 2023, and was selected as the top performing ensemble for the Colorado West Jazz Festival in 2023 and the Fort Lewis Jazz Festival in 2024 and 2022. The Pride of Montrose Marching Band set a new school record in 2023 by earning 4th place at the 4A Colorado Bandmasters Association State Marching Band Competition and the top visual caption award in class.
