Located on the Western Slope of Colorado, the Montrose High School Band program consists of dedicated students committed to the highest level of excellence. Students may choose from a variety of performing ensembles, including the "Pride of Montrose" Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Advanced Jazz Ensemble, Intermediate Jazz Ensemble, and Winter Guard. Montrose High School also offers music theory and introduction to guitar.
Montrose High School's Band Program received the Colorado Bandmasters Association Exemplary Band Award in 2023 and 2025. The Advanced Jazz Ensemble performed at the Colorado Music Educators Association Convention in 2023 and 2026, and was selected as the top performing ensemble for the Fort Lewis Jazz Festival in 2022, 2024, and 2025 and the Colorado West Jazz Festival in 2023. The Pride of Montrose Marching Band is a consistent state semifinalist at the Colorado Bandmasters Association State Marching Band Competition, setting a new school record for highest score earned at state competition in 2025.
