For the Love of Food

"For The Love Of Food"

Our small town of Forsyth is growing bigger every day. New boutiques, restaurants, and businesses can be found popping up on every street corner. The supportive people of Forsyth are imperative to the operation of these small businesses. However, the cost of local restaurants may be too much for the average student; Fast food restaurants save us time and money, which is great when you don’t have much of either to spare. Sometimes you just need that four for $4 from your local Wendy’s or that $5 buck lunch from Dairy Queen.

According to “Fast Food” statistics, the average American spends $1200 on fast food every year. I decided to ask my peers what their favorite fast food meal was and just how often they went to local chain restaurants every week. Senior Linebacker Laderik Barkley’s favorite fast food meal is the four items for $4 at Wendy’s; he explained to me that he goes to get fast food every single day of the week. Wendy’s four for $4 is a popular menu choice among the high school students here at Mary Persons. Junior Summer Sandefur’s favorite fast food meal is also the Wendy’s four for $4. She gets a four count of nuggets, a chicken sandwich, fries and a sprite in her order. Sandefur stated she usually eats from fast food restaurants around three times a week. Sophomore Mara Emami travels to Warner Robins for soccer several times a week, therefore, she needs to eat something quick after a long evening of practice. The turkey BLT from Dairy Queen is Emami’s favorite quick meal. Similar to other students I interviewed, she eats at fast food restaurants around three times a week.

The fast food restaurants of not only the small town of Forsyth, but all over America, play an important role in our lives. As you can see from the people I interviewed, our local fast food restaurants are crucial to the everyday lives of Mary Persons High School. Whenever someone is in need of a quick or inexpensive meal, fast food is the way to go.
