The special education department at Rosa Parks Middle School is committed to providing the highest quality education within the least restrictive environment that is appropriate for your son or daughter. We believe that, with specialized instruction and the appropriate accommodations, all children can learn and successfully access curriculum content. We are available as case managers and as a department to make middle school a successful, positive experience for your child. Please feel free to contact us with any concerns and/or questions.

                                            Autism Program

The Autism Program at Rosa Parks Middle School consists of two self-contained classrooms. Students served by this model have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder and need significant learning and social supports, as a result of their disability. Curriculum is modified as appropriate to support student strengths and needs. There is a continuing emphasis on the development of language, social skills, and student independence. In addition, the students are provided with community-based instruction and in-school prevocational tasks to prepare them for their eventual transition to adult services.
