ESOL Program

Although we do not offer specific English/Language Arts ESOL courses, we do offer support to students who receive ESOL services during TAP (Teacher Advisory Period) which takes place at the beginning of each school day, as well as small group and one on one instruction with our ESOL specialist during English classes. During those periods of the the day, we build in opportunities for students to access and build upon their prior knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, word usage, the mechanics of writing, and usually include the four aspects of language use: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. A comprehensive understanding of the English Language is also embedded into our English/Language Arts curriculum and modified by our ESOL specialist, who works directly with our English teachers, to enable students to progress from a beginning level of understanding of English vocabulary and grammatical structures to a more comprehensive grasp of various formal and informal styles of using Academic English.
