CTE PROGRAMS

Career and Technology Exploration (CTE) programs are half-day programs at Thomas Edison School of Technology, Gaithersburg High School, Seneca Valley High School, or the Safety Training Academy. Students apply in fall of 10th grade (Cosmetology is a three-year program with applications in ninth grade, and 11th graders can apply for one-year programs). If admitted to CTE programs, students typically will attend four academic classes at Magruder and are bused to the other programs (Edison: afternoon; GHS: morning or afternoon; SVHS: morning or afternoon; Safety Academy: afternoon). Virtual tours are available on each respective CTE school website. Email Jennifer_L@Miehle@mcpsmd.org or see Mrs. Miehle in room C238 for help to apply or get more information. Acceptance into part-time CTE programs is done through a lottery system. Magruder staff do NOT have access to information during application process.
