To access your child’s meal account, please use the link above. You will need your child’s school ID number, which can be found inside the pocket of your child’s Take Home Folder and has also been emailed to you by the school.
Kindergarten lunch is from 1:00pm-1:30pm each day.
Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their child beginning the third week of school. Only your child will be able to eat with you at the parent table.
To be a lunchroom volunteer you will need be an approved volunteer through the district (see link below). If you are interested in helping out, please let your child's teacher know!
For the ease and independence of our kindergarten students, please ensure that if your child brings lunch from home, it is packed in a lunchbox with a handle. While bento boxes are a great option, please note they can sometimes be difficult for young children to carry on their own, especially while holding their water bottle. Packing containers or a bento box inside a lunch box with a handle helps children carry their lunch more easily and keeps their food secure throughout the day.
There is some information you want to read through on the signup, but we wanted to give out some extra insight to how to do things for our students during lunch, if you’re interested in helping us in this way…
Please understand that the students are taught from day one that the Kindergarten Teachers are the school Authority Figures. Therefore, the children have to follow the rules designed for their SAFETY. While parents, on the other hand, are the authority figures for their home environment. Thank you for supporting our specific rules and routines while you are here volunteering. If you need further clarification on a rule or expectation, please defer to the teacher on lunch duty. However, if we notice there is some confusion on the volunteer's part, we might come over to explain its importance. We absolutely love our helpers and want everyone to have a good time supporting our sweet Kinders. If this doesn't feel comfortable, we have many more volunteering opportunities over the course of the year.
Please understand that our decisions are based on what's best for ALL Kindergarteners, as we have students that have specific needs. Thankfully, the Kindergarten teachers are able to rely on their combined 29 years of teaching experience to make these decisions. Thanks for reading over the expectations and/or ways you can help out listed below!
Student Expectations
Students should...
Ask a School Authority Figure to go to the restroom, and not a volunteer
Stay in seats
Raise hands for help
Speak with an inside voice
Attempt to open items by themselves first
Turn off all voices when lights are off, to encourage enough time to eat
Raise their hand to ask for permission to get utensils and napkins
Student should NOT fill their own water
How volunteers can support...
Allow only School Authority Figures to release students to the bathroom. We must keep a head count for their personal safety. *They must have a badge with them, and many of our students have specific needs when it comes to leaving an area, so this must be a teacher-led situation.
Open items
Fill water
Match the voice-level expectations (if students are supposed to be quiet, use a whisper voice)
Help out in the cafeteria line or the hallway, if requested
We want to continue to have volunteers support us in Kindergarten, so putting this in writing was necessary. We are encouraging independence as much as possible to help our current Kinders become future 1st Graders.
Thanks again for all you do!
