School begins promptly at 8:10 a.m. Students eating breakfast may enter the cafeteria starting at 7:40 a.m. Additionally, Kindergarten students are welcome to enter the building through the main school doors beginning at 7:40 a.m. Please note, any student not inside the building by 8:10 a.m. will be marked tardy.
Glen Oaks dismissal is at 3:20 p.m. To pick up a child, a parent, guardian, or approved adult must present the child’s dismissal card. If you do not have the dismissal card, a staff member will direct you to the office, where you will need to show your driver’s license to receive a new card.
After school, older siblings will meet their Kindergarten siblings in the cafeteria if they are being picked up by car or walking home. A staff member will escort Club 360 or Daycare van riders to the designated pickup area.
Here are the different ways students are dismissed from school in the afternoons:
Carpool: With your dismissal carpool tag displayed in your car window, your child will be safely loaded into the vehicle. Please pull up to the front of the school and show your tag. If your child has an older sibling, they will meet in the cafeteria and leave together. A teacher will assist your child into the car as you arrive.
Parent Walker: Using your dismissal carpool tag, your child will walk home with you. Please meet on the left side of the school, outside the cafeteria doors, and hold up your dismissal tag for staff to verify.
Sibling Walker: If you have given permission to the front office, your child may walk home with their older sibling. Both will exit together through the front door.
Club360: Your child is enrolled and registered in the after-school Club360 program.
Daycare: Your child will be picked up by a daycare van.
Please ensure you have the appropriate dismissal tag or authorization for your child’s chosen dismissal method.
If there’s ever a change of plans for the way your child will be going home, please send an email to the front office officego@mckinneyisd.net and CC your child's teacher, OR contact the front office at 469-302-6403(6400).
Pro-tip: There is no guarantee that your child's teacher will have time to check their email in the middle of the day, so your best way to get the info to us is to email the front office.
