AP U.S. History students created a mural exploring: “Who was Masconomet?" that is now displayed on the second floor of the high school. Students learned many about the Native American legacy of the area and why the school was named after this leader of the Agawam.
Did you know that Masconomet’s name means, “He who overpowered a black bear”? We look forward to continuing to learn about and explore Masconomet’s local legacy in the coming years as we install more permanent exhibits around the district honoring our namesake.
