In this course, we explored how technology influences educational systems and other institutional operations. I learned how to leverage technology to enhance professional development, manage school and institutional tasks more efficiently, and ensure transparent communications. As part of the course, I conducted a thorough needs assessment, which was crucial for developing a strategic plan tailored to the specific technology needs of our institution.
This process was instrumental in understanding the necessity for detailed data on student performance and engagement. Using the insights gained, I crafted a strategic plan to implement technology solutions that address these needs effectively. Below are the steps I took to complete my needs assessment, reflecting my growth in integrating technology to support educational objectives at the institution where I work as an Instructional Designer.
For this project, I developed a Technology Needs Assessment Proposal focused on improving the quality of online course offerings. The goal was to identify the challenges faculty face in creating and delivering high-quality online courses and to propose the establishment of an instructional studio lab. This lab will provide faculty with access to advanced technologies, hands-on training, and ongoing support, ensuring that online courses become more engaging and accessible for students. The needs assessment focused on gathering insights from key stakeholders and faculty to tailor resources and enhance teaching methodologies.
For this assignment, I created a Needs Assessment Activity Plan that focuses on improving online course quality by gathering data through interviews, surveys, and observations. The aim is to identify the challenges and opportunities for faculty in enhancing their online teaching methods. By collecting insights from key stakeholders, including instructional designers, media specialists, and faculty members, the plan seeks to guide the development of structured training programs and improved use of technology. This assessment will help address current weaknesses and capitalize on opportunities for innovation in online learning environments.
In this assignment, I conducted an environmental assessment to evaluate the social, physical, and institutional factors impacting the establishment of an instructional studio lab. The assessment involved gathering data through interviews, surveys, and document analysis to understand the current landscape and challenges faced by faculty in delivering high-quality online courses. This project aims to support faculty with the necessary resources and training to enhance student engagement and course quality. The findings from this assessment will inform the development of a more effective and accessible learning environment.
For this assignment, I conducted a needs analysis to assess the current challenges faced by online faculty. Through interviews, surveys, and environmental assessments, I identified key gaps in training, resources, and support for creating high-quality online content. The analysis revealed the need for structured multimedia training, a fully equipped instructional studio lab, advanced technology tools, and ongoing technical support. This project aims to address these needs, ultimately enhancing the quality of online courses and improving student engagement and learning outcomes.
In this assignment, I developed a goal statement focusing on enhancing the quality of online courses by establishing a state-of-the-art instructional studio lab. My goal is to provide faculty with the resources, training, and support needed to create high-quality, engaging, and accessible content. This includes setting up a fully equipped lab, implementing comprehensive multimedia training, developing on-demand technical support, and conducting regular professional development workshops. These initiatives aim to elevate the overall online learning experience and align with the institution’s mission of promoting student success and innovation.
In this final assignment, I developed an executive summary that presents the results of a needs assessment aimed at enhancing online course quality through the creation of an Instructional Studio Lab. The assessment involved faculty surveys and interviews, which identified gaps in multimedia resources, technical support, and training. My proposal outlines solutions such as building the studio lab, providing standardized multimedia training, and developing on-demand technical support. The goal is to equip faculty with the tools and skills to create engaging, high-quality online courses that enhance student learning and success.
In this video, I deliver a "buy-in" talk to the executive directors about the Technology Needs Assessment research project I completed for my ED-705 course. I've explored the significant role of quality in online education, determining whether it's merely a trend or the future of learning. Through several interviews with key administrators and extensive research, I’ve identified crucial gaps in faculty training and technological resources. These gaps, including inconsistent multimedia training and lack of technical support, critically impact course effectiveness and student engagement. I propose urgent solutions like standardized multimedia training for faculty by April 2025 and establishing a professional studio lab by January 2025 to enhance faculty capabilities and ensure inclusive education for all students.
In this group assignment, I focused on fostering an effective and empathetic collaboration with my peers. I prioritized creating an inclusive environment where everyone felt heard and valued, particularly during our initial brainstorming session on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). I contributed significantly, providing numerous ideas and creating a structured framework for our discussions which included headers to guide our meeting. This preparation helped clarify our project goals and grading criteria. Additionally, I actively engaged in our Zoom sessions, contributed to our chart organization, and supported my team members' ideas, ensuring our project was comprehensive and well-rounded.

The purpose of this assignment was to propose a micro-credential professional development program design for the East County Board of Economic Development's certificate program. We, as Team 5, proposed that by incorporating a micro-credential professional development program for aspiring East County managers, the community will ultimately benefit from the increased number of qualified applicants that will be trained in targeted, timely managerial tools that focus on the needs and leadership skills necessary to manage the future of East County.
