In ED 700, we delved into the theoretical foundations of organizational leadership. We analyzed how leadership is exercised in contemporary public and private sectors. This course allowed us to gain insight into our own leadership styles, strengths, and weaknesses. We also sought ways to cultivate new techniques for our personal development and to enhance the leadership skills of others. Through key assignments, we applied the theories and best practices derived from our theoretical studies to our own leadership practices.
In our critical assignment 5.1, we created our own leadership frameworks, inspired by various leadership theories. We identified the key elements of leadership and constructed our own models. My leadership framework is a dynamic guide to my journey, outlining the "why" and "how" of my leadership. It focuses on three core elements of effective leadership. As I advance, I will refine this framework through theory, practice, mentorship, and self-reflection. By challenging assumptions, fostering growth, and upholding ethics, I aim to make a lasting positive impact on individuals, organizations, and society.
In our critical assignment 8.2, we got a chance to delve into a leadership case study from our textbook, "Leadership Theory and Practice" by Peter Northouse. In this assignment, I analyzed a case study on three potential leaders: Pria, Justin, and Jerome. Each has a unique leadership style, reflecting Theory X and Theory Y assumptions. I evaluated democratic and authoritarian leadership in a robotics competition, examining their pros and cons. This analysis aims to enhance our understanding of effective leadership in high-pressure environments.
In this critical assignment 9.1, we refined our presentation skills by summarizing our case studies. I created a narrated video about a case study featuring a High School Robotics Leadership team, where leaders naturally emerge.
In this assignment I outlined the results of consistent leadership journaling and self-assessment exercises, where I've identified strengths such as strategic planning and effective communication, alongside areas for improvement like empathetic leadership and adaptability. It sets forth a comprehensive Leadership Development Plan aimed at fortifying these skills through actionable steps and SMART goals, integrating insights from influential theorists and my own experiences in the field.
This paper serves not only as a personal blueprint for growth but also as a strategic guide for others in similar roles aiming to amplify their impact as educational leaders. It highlights the ongoing nature of leadership development and my commitment to evolving as a visionary leader in instructional design and online education.
In this research paper, I explore how leadership styles—transformational and transactional—affect organizational culture. I analyze how these styles shape the environment within organizations, impacting innovation, stability, and employee engagement. The paper integrates theoretical frameworks and case studies to demonstrate the pivotal role leaders play in either fostering or hindering a culture that aligns with organizational goals. This assignment is aimed at leaders looking to understand and leverage the influence of their leadership style on organizational dynamics.
