Tags are a way of linking or referencing other social media accounts. This is also referred to as "social handles". When someone "tags" you, they are letting you know that they have "mentioned" you in their post.
Example: @avlabba is the ABBA Instagram social handle or tag. Use the @ symbol in front and that social media profile will get alerted in their notifications that you "mentioned" them. They can choose whether or not to acknowledge that you mentioned them or not.
Ways they can acknowledge:
Some just respond with text Thank You or emoji
Reshare your post as a Story (24 hours post) or Repost your Post as part of their feed.
