Getting Started on Instagram
Instagram is owned by Meta (formerly Facebook). It was created as a social media platform for CREATIVES (photographers, artists, etc.) and therefore focused on images. The platform rewarded professional photography and posed photos. It was a platform for individual brands. Like other platforms, it has evolved and more businesses than ever from casual to luxury find success on Instagram. It has evolved from a focus on photography to a focus on short form video (reels) and expanded it's content options and tools. It's still in a growth phase. Success on Instagram is a blend of consistently sharing content (different types) and utilizing built in tools such as geolocations, hashtags and tagging others. Getting followers is a lot easier and faster compared to building your fan base on Facebook. If you wish to get started on Instagram here's your checklist of why you should:
Create account
Follow and research related accounts and influencers
Make list of 30 hashtags
Write down list of accounts to tag
Make yourself post two a week for practice, learning and to get into habit
Share simple pic and then as you get better you can improve the posts with captions, use built in tools
Build on these posts - no hashtags, then hashtags, then tag accounts
Monitor
30 minutes a week
We highly recommend having an inital consult with Marketing Outpost if you wish to start up your Instagram account.
