Kika Superwitch Trouble at School

Writer: KNISTER

Saga: Kika Superwitch

Synopsis:

In this adventure, Kika Superbruja has the idea of using a couple of magic tricks to help her teacher during a class in the presence of an inspector from the Ministry of Education. Kika's school has never experienced such a hectic day!

Review:

It is longer than the English books they are sent at school, but the vocabulary is simple and the story is fun. The character is well known to the children, which motivates them to read even in another language. There are words translated on the same page on which they appear, which facilitates the understanding of the text and makes it more enjoyable, even if the children do not understand everything, they grasp the meaning of the text and understand the story.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Writer: Jeff Kinney

Saga: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Synopsis:

Things aren't going well for Greg Heffley.

He's been thrust into a new school where undersize weaklings share the corridors with kids who are taller, meaner and already shaving.

Along with his friend Rowley, Greg's desperate to prove his new maturity, which only going up a grade can bring. But when Rowley's star starts to rise, will Greg be able to reach the same heights of popularity as his best friend?

Review:

Everything Greg seems to do has hilarious consequences and his family are very funny. In this book it is summer vacation and even though it is nice and hot Greg insists on staying inside hooked up to his video games with the blinds drawn. His mother is tired of Greg being lazy and decides that this summer should be fun and packed with family activities.

This book was very good. My favourite character has to be Greg as he can be horrible but the audience always roots for him anyway! I really like the part when Greg's mum is forgotten by the whole family at a petrol station in the middle of nowhere - it is hilarious.

I recommend this book to readers around 10-13 who enjoy reading as it is quite easy to read, but it has some challenging words as well. I enjoyed reading it so much.
