There are two types of pumps, jet pumps and circulation pumps. Jet pumps are found on all hot tubs however circulation pumps are found only on the Hydropool Self Cleaning lineup.
Jet Pump (Color may vary)
Circulation pump (2017 to Present)
Circulation pump (2017 and earlier)
Determining what size your jet pump(s) are can be rather confusing at first glance. To properly determine the size, check the tag placed on the side of the motor with the AMP Rating.
There will usually be two values (ex. 16.4 A / 4.8A as pictured) this simply means that the pump draws 16.4 amps on high speed and 4.8 amps on low speed.
Values of 12.0 to 10.0 / 5.0 to 2.0 are considered a 4HP pump
Values of 10.0 to 7.0 / 4.0 to 1.0 are considered a 3HP pump
If you hear a loud grinding noise coming from the pump, it is likely the bearings have reached the end of their life and the pump must be replaced. Contact us to have the pump professionally replaced or for parts pricing and availability. See our guide on Replacing a Pump if you wish to replace it yourself.
If water is spraying from the pump when it is turned on, the pump seal has gone. This means the pump will have to be replaced. Contact us to have the pump professionally replaced or for parts pricing and availability. See our guide on Replacing a Pump if you wish to replace it yourself.
